About this course

BA in Early Childhood Education, an early childhood studies degree focused on children's rights, social justice, and policy and practice from an international perspective. Core topics include Research Methods, Communication & Writing, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course is taught by experts at the UCL Institute of Education and addresses societal inequalities and global challenges. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Global childhoods: her/histories, cultures, and societies, Practice-Based Community Learning I, and Theoretical perspectives of children's learning and development, alongside language and academic writing options. The second year examines inclusion, sustainability, and social justice through compulsory modules like Children with special rights: Transdisciplinary approaches to inclusion in early childhood education, Global perspectives: early childhood education for sustainability, Practice-Based Community Learning II, Research Methods in early childhood education, and Voice and choice: social justice, children's rights and democratic early childhood pedagogies.
