About this course

An undergraduate degree in Engineering and Architecture MEngArch, a Bartlett School of Architecture course integrating architectural design, civil engineering and building services engineering across five academic years. Core topics include Programming, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Ethics & Professional Practice, and Design & Creative Practice. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with industry and academic experts to build holistic design leadership for complex built environment challenges. The first year covers foundational concepts through History and Theory of Engineering and Architecture, Materials, Mechanics and Making, Building Physics and Sustainability, and Design Practice 1. The second year progresses with Advanced Mathematical Modelling and Analysis, Design Practice 2, Structural and Foundation Analysis, and Urban Physics. The third year continues with Mechanics of Buildings, Design Practice 3, Professional Practice and Management, and Making Regenerative Buildings. The fourth year involves Design Practice 4, an Engineering and Architecture Dissertation, and Contextual Theory for Fire Safe Design, alongside optional modules such as Spatial Cultures, Introduction to Programming for Architecture and Design, Materialist Ecological Architecture Part 1, and Design for Manufacture: Contextual Theory. The final year concludes with Professional Practice and Ethics, Façade Design, and Design Practice 5.
