About this course
BSc in Environmental Geoscience, an Earth and Environmental Sciences degree focused on the interaction between Earth sciences and human activity. Core topics include Statistics and Mathematical Modelling. The curriculum is delivered over three academic years through a combination of compulsory and optional modules. The first year covers foundational subjects through compulsory modules such as Earth Materials, History of Life, Dynamic Earth and Surface Processes. The second year progresses to core study via Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Isotope Geology, Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and Introduction to Environmental Geoscience. Optional modules in the second year allow students to explore topics like Geomorphology and Global Geophysics. The final year involves advanced compulsory study in modules such as Geological and Environmental Mapping, Groundwater Science and Environmental Geochemistry. Students can also select from various final-year options, including Field Geophysics and Ocean Physics and Climate Change.
