About this course

MSci in Environmental Geoscience, an earth and environmental sciences degree studying interactions between geological systems and human activity. Core topics include Statistics and Mathematical Modelling. The course includes a compulsory independent project in the final year. The first year covers core foundations through Earth Materials, History of Life, Dynamic Earth, and Surface Processes, alongside optional choices such as Foundations of Physical Geoscience. The second year introduces Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Isotope Geology, Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and Introduction to Environmental Geoscience, with optional modules including Geomorphology and Principles of Climate. The third year focuses on Geological and Environmental Mapping, Groundwater Science, and Environmental Geochemistry, complemented by options like Field Geophysics and Ocean Physics and Climate Change. The fourth year features advanced study through Earth and Planetary System Science and the Independent MSci Project, alongside optional topics such as Seismic Risk Assessment and Prevention and Remediation of Environmental Contamination.
