A level: ABB (Latin grade A required, foreign language preferred.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects to include Latin grade 6, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in German and Latin, a German and Classics degree examining linguistic competence alongside Germanic literature, history and film. The degree includes a compulsory year abroad to immerse students in a German-speaking country. The first year introduces foundational study through Introduction to German Studies 1 and Introduction to German Studies 2, alongside a range of optional modules including Greek Myth: Its Use and Meaning and Interpreting Latin Literature. The second year offers various optional modules such as Roman Epic and Classics and Literary Theory. The third year consists of SELCS Year Abroad Term 1 and SELCS Year Abroad Term 2. The final year includes Discussion and Essay in German as a compulsory module, alongside optional subjects like German Political and Social Thought and The Dialogues of Plato.
