About this course

BA in Hebrew and Romanian, a degree in Russian Studies and Hebrew and Jewish Studies centred on language acquisition and cultural history. Core topics include Research Methods. Students spend the third year abroad to immerse themselves in the societies of both languages. The first year covers foundational language acquisition through Modern Hebrew Language 1 and Romanian Language Level 1, alongside compulsory modules such as War, Trauma and Memory in East European Cinema and Literature and Memory. The second year continues linguistic progression with Modern Hebrew Language 2, Romanian Language Level 2a-Comprehension, and Writing from the Other Europe, while introducing optional topics like Yiddish Language 1 and Vampires, Society and Culture: Transylvania and Beyond. The fourth year advances proficiency through Modern Hebrew Language 4, Romanian Language Level 3a - Comprehension, and Romanian Literature 3.
