Entry requirements

A level: AAA (Any three subjects from Economics, History, Mathematics and Politics preferred.) IB: 38 points (A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Any three higher level subjects from Economics, History, Mathematics and Politics preferred. The course will accept either ‘Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches’ or ‘Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation’ at higher level.)

About this course

BA in History, Politics and Economics, an economics and politics and international relations and history degree examining the past and present societies of Eastern Europe and Russia. Core topics include Research Methods and Historical Research. The three academic years duration allows students to spend an optional year abroad at a partner university. The first year covers the foundations through Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Introduction to Politics and Understanding Politics and Society. The second year offers various optional modules examining regional history and politics such as A Global History of Socialist Ideas, 1800-1980 and The Rise and Fall of Yugoslavia. The third year includes the compulsory module The Crisis of 1989 and the New Global Revolutions. Optional modules in the final year range from Life Writing: Memory and Identity in Twentieth Century Europe to Monarchs and the Enlightenment in Russia and Central Europe: Dissertation.
