About this course
BA in History with Study Abroad, a history degree centred on historical analysis across ancient, medieval, and modern periods. Core topics include Research Methods. This four-year degree incorporates a compulsory third year spent studying abroad at an overseas institution and culminates in a final-year dissertation. The first year introduces foundational skills through compulsory modules such as Approaching History, Writing History, and Making History, alongside optional choices exploring periods from medieval Europe to the modern Middle East. The second year focuses on methodological training via the compulsory Second-Year Research Seminar alongside specialist options covering diverse global regions. The third year is dedicated entirely to studying abroad through the compulsory BA History - Study Abroad Module I, BA History - Study Abroad Module II, BA History - Study Abroad Module III, and BA History - Study Abroad Module IV. The final year centres on independent research through the compulsory History Undergraduate Dissertation, supported by optional modules examining targeted historical themes and eras.
