About this course

BSc in Infection and Immunity, a microbiology degree exploring the mechanisms of disease and the human immune response. Core topics include Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, and Clinical Skills. Students complete a compulsory research project in the final year. The first year covers human physiology, cellular biology, and pathology through modules such as Foundations in Human Physiology and Cellular Biology, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Function in Health and Disease, and Infection, Inflammation and Repair. The second year introduces core medical science topics with compulsory modules including Immunology, Infection, and Statistics for Medical Scientists, alongside optional modules in genetics and clinical trials. The third year focuses on advanced biomedical concepts through compulsory modules such as Immunology in Health and Disease, Infectious Agents, and Cellular Pathology. Students can also select from optional modules spanning microbial pathogenesis, virology, and therapeutics to tailor their studies.
