About this course

BA in Italian and Spanish, an undergraduate degree within Italian and Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies. Core topics include Communication & Writing and Language & Translation. Students spend a compulsory third year abroad to immerse themselves in the cultures and societies of both language regions. The first year introduces foundational language proficiency and regional studies through modules such as First Year Italian Language, Introduction to Italian Studies 1, Spanish Language I, and Introduction to Spanish and Latin American Studies 1. The second year continues language development with Second Year Italian Language and Spanish Language II, alongside optional studies covering Italian Culture during Fascism, Italian Literature 1860-1925, and Spanish Narrative, Essay and Drama. The fourth year concludes the programme with advanced study including Final Year Italian Language and Spanish Language III, plus optional modules such as Futurism in Italy, Dante: Divina Commedia, and Spanish Film from the 1990s: New Ways of Seeing (II).
