About this course
MSci in Mathematics with Economics, a Mathematics and Economics degree centred on analytical and quantitative approaches to financial and physical systems. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, and Mathematical Modelling. This four-year programme extends the standard bachelor curriculum with advanced study and a substantial final-year project, and includes options for study abroad. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Analysis 1, Analysis 2, Algebra 1, and Advanced Calculus. The second year progresses to advanced mathematical theory and economic principles via Analysis 3: Complex Analysis, Algebra 3: Further Linear Algebra, Fourier Methods and Linear PDEs, and Economics 2 (Combined Studies), alongside optional topics in areas such as number theory and probability. Third-year study introduces specialized economics pathways including Quantitative Economics and Econometrics, International Trade, and Behavioural Economics. The final year centres on the Project in Mathematics alongside advanced master-level options such as Asset Pricing in Continuous Time (Masters level) and Cosmology.
