About this course
MSci in Mathematics with Theoretical Physics, a mathematics degree focusing on the analytical and quantitative study of physical phenomena. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, and Mathematical Modelling. This four-year degree includes a major final-year project and offers an optional study abroad year at an overseas institution. The first year covers foundational concepts through Analysis 1, Analysis 2, Algebra 1, and Advanced Calculus. The second year introduces core approaches via Analysis 3: Complex Analysis, Modelling, ODEs and Approximation, and Fourier Methods and Linear PDEs, alongside optional modules such as Fluid Mechanics and Quantum Physics. The third year provides advanced study through options spanning Measure Theory, Biomathematics, and Mathematics For General Relativity. The final year centres on the compulsory Project in Mathematics, complemented by advanced options including Riemannian Geometry and Computational and Simulation Methods.
