About this course

MSci in Medical Innovation and Enterprise, a human biology degree centred on the commercial and scientific aspects of modern healthcare development. Core topics include Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Entrepreneurship. Students complete an extensive four-year integrated master's that combines advanced scientific research with business and enterprise training. The first year covers core physiological systems through Foundations in Human Physiology and Cellular Biology, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Function in Health and Disease, The Gut, Liver and Drug Metabolism, and Kidneys, Hormones and Fluid Balance. The second year builds competence via Molecular Basis of Disease, Techniques in Molecular Medicine: A Practical Approach, Understanding Management, and Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, alongside optional modules covering topics such as Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, Mathematical Modelling and Analysis 1, and Pharmacology and Drug Action. The third year focuses on commercial strategy and independent investigation through Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurship in a Global Context, Research Project, and Medical Innovation and Enterprise III, with further choices including Precision Cancer Medicine and Nanotechnology in Medicine. The final year involves high-level study and consultancy through Advanced Research in Medical Innovation Science and Medical Innovation Business Consultancy, alongside optional topics like Digital Health and AI and Surgical Oncology.
