BSc Neuroscience
Entry requirements
A level: AAA (Chemistry required plus one from Biology, Life and Health Sciences, Mathematics or Physics.) IB: 38 points (A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects including Chemistry and one subject from Biology, Mathematics or Physics, with no higher level score below 5. For Mathematics, the course will accept either ‘Analysis and Approaches’ or ‘Applications and Interpretation’ at higher level.)
About this course
BSc in Neuroscience, a biomedical science degree examining the physiological mechanisms and anatomical organisation of the nervous system. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, and Research Methods. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through modules such as Foundations of Life, Molecular Cell Biology, Foundations in Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology, and Foundations in System Neuroscience. The second year progresses to Human Neuroanatomy, Cellular Neurophysiology, Introduction to Python for Neuroscientists, and Introductory Pharmacology, with options including Developmental Neurobiology and Perception. The final year allows students to tailor their studies through advanced modules such as Molecular Basis of Neuropsychiatric Disorders, Metabolic Neuroscience, and Pain, alongside project options including the Collaborative Project in Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology.
