Entry requirements
A level: ABB (Previous study of a foreign language is preferred (not necessarily one of the named languages) but not required. Applicants may study two languages at beginner level and may seek advice from the departments concerned if needed.) IB: 34 points (A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects, with no higher level score below 5. Foreign language preferred.)
About this course
BA in Norwegian and Polish, a German and Russian Studies degree spanning linguistic and cultural traditions across northern and eastern Europe. Core topics include Research Methods. This four-year undergraduate course incorporates a year abroad and culminates in an advanced project. The first year establishes foundations through Introduction to Norwegian Language and Culture, Polish Language Level 1 and Introduction to Nordic Studies 1. The second year progresses with Intermediate Norwegian Language and Culture, Polish Language Level 2a-Comprehension and Writing from the Other Europe, alongside optional language modules such as Intermediate Swedish Language and Culture. The third year involves studying abroad. The fourth year advances proficiency through Advanced Norwegian Language and Culture, Polish Language Level 3a - Comprehension and Advanced Project Work in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, with options including Free-standing Dissertation.
