About this course
BA in Norwegian and Spanish, a German and Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies degree focusing on the acquisition of two distinct European languages and their respective cultural contexts. A compulsory third year abroad provides direct immersion in the societies and cultures associated with both languages. The first year covers language acquisition and foundational cultural studies through Introduction to Norwegian Language and Culture, Introduction to Nordic Studies 1, Spanish Language I, and Introduction to Spanish and Latin American Studies 1. The second year builds proficiency through Intermediate Norwegian Language and Culture and Spanish Language II, alongside optional choices such as The Power of Maps and Nationalism and Ethnicity in Contemporary Europe. The third year consists of SELCS Year Abroad Term 1 and SELCS Year Abroad Term 2. The fourth year concludes the degree with Advanced Norwegian Language and Culture, Advanced Project Work in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, and Spanish Language III, supplemented by options like Music, Nations, Society and Organized Crime: Gangsters in Life and Art.
