About this course
BSc in Nutrition and Medical Sciences, a nutrition degree focused on the scientific mechanisms linking diet, health, and metabolism. Core topics include Statistics and Research Methods. Students study across university facilities in London during this three-year undergraduate programme. The first year covers core biological foundations through modules such as Foundations in Human Physiology and Cellular Biology, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Function in Health and Disease, and Nutrition and Metabolism 1. The second year progresses to advanced physiological topics and experimental techniques with compulsory study in Molecular Basis of Disease, Malnourishment and Obesity, and Research Methods in Food and Nutrition, alongside optional pathways including The Nervous System and Neurological Diseases and Pharmacology and Drug Action. The final year focuses on specialized applications and independent investigation through compulsory modules such as Applied Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, and the Nutrition and Medical Sciences Research Project. Students can also tailor their studies in the final year by selecting from optional modules like Nutrition, Health and Culture and The Human Microbiome in Health and Disease.
