Entry requirements

120 UCAS points required from level 3 qualifications. These can include A levels or other level 3 qualifications, including an accredited science-based Access to HE Diploma qualification in: Health and Social Care Nursing Midwifery a similar subject area with 60 credits overall and at least 45 at level three. You also need 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and a science subject (grade 9 – 4 / A* - C) or Level 2 equivalents. If you are studying an access course, then you need a minimum of 24 distinctions. Prior qualifications Please note, if your prior qualifications were awarded overseas, you must satisfy Level 2 English language requirements through an IELTS or OET (Occupational English Test) English Proficiency Test at the following scores: IELTS: 7.0 in speaking, reading and listening and 6.5 in writing OET: at least a Grade C+ (300 to 340) in the writing section, and at least a Grade B (350 to 440) in the reading, listening and speaking sections. Other types of test are not accepted.

About this course

BSc (Hons) in Midwifery, providing grounding in clinical skills across the full continuum of maternity care. The programme is developed against the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Proficiency for Midwives (2019) and holds the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Gold Award. Clinical placements are completed at an NHS trust maternity unit, with progressive responsibility assessed through the Midwifery Ongoing Record of Achievement (MORA).
