BSc Data Science and Analytics
About this course
BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Analytics, a degree in Computer Science and BSc (Hons) Data Science centred on statistical and computational approaches to data analysis. Core topics include Programming, Computer Architecture, Signal Processing, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Design & Creative Practice. Students can optionally undertake a work placement year in industry following their second year of study. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Applied Mathematics, Database Technologies, Software Development I, and Software Development II, introducing programming languages and database architecture. The second year focuses on data pipelines and analytics methods via Business Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science Project Lifecycle, and Practical Machine Learning, with optional study in areas like Business Process Intelligence, Object Oriented Programming, and Sensors and Signals. The final year covers advanced analytical methods through Operational Research and Optimisation, Secure Scalable AI and Cloud Computing, and Supply Chain Analytics and Technologies, while offering options in Applied AI, Applications of Large Language Models, and Financial Technologies. A comprehensive Data Science and Analytics Final Project completes the final year, requiring students to undertake independent research and investigation.
