BA Applied Art

Wrexham University

About this course

BA (Hons) Applied Art, a horology-focused art and design degree centred on material practice and studio-based making. Core topics include Research Methods and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Students participate in an end-of-year group exhibition in the first year and complete a practice-based research project in the final year. The first year covers foundational practices through Contexts 1, Visual Communication, Material Introduction, Material Experimentation, Material Techniques, and Introduction to Exhibiting, which introduces workshop processes and exhibition analysis. The second year expands theoretical context and design proposals with Contexts 2, Research and Inspiration, Technical Development, Identity, and Creative Futures - Making a Living, focusing on professional awareness and material specialisation. The third year concludes with the Research Project and the Professional Project, where students create a substantial body of studio work for exhibition.
