About this course
BA (Hons) Criminal Justice and Secure Policy (with a year in industry) is an undergraduate degree in Social Policy examining crime and societal measures. Core topics include Policy Analysis. Students complete a professional placement year during their studies. The first year introduces foundational themes through compulsory modules such as The Criminal Justice System, Power, Policy and Social Progress, Contemporary Issues in Social and Public Policy, and Criminal Justice and Inequality. The second year progresses to advanced methods with compulsory modules including Policy Think Tank, Contemporary Issues in Criminal Justice, Crime and the Life Course, and Researching Policy and Society. The final year involves an Independent Study Module alongside a range of optional choices covering topics such as Drugs: Prevalence, Policy and Practice, Welfare States in Crisis, Housing and Homelessness: Overcoming Inequality, and Prisons and Penal Policy.
