A level: BBB IB: 31 points BTEC: DDM We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. About this course
BA (Hons) Education, an education degree focused on the theoretical and social foundations of learning systems. Core topics include Research Methods. Students complete an empirical education dissertation in their final year. The first year introduces foundational themes through compulsory modules such as Meanings and Contexts of Education, Researching Education, Psychological Perspectives on Education, and Key Concepts in Education. The second year examines broader societal structures through compulsory modules including Worldviews, Knowledge and Education, Education, Power and Society, and Educational Research Methods, while offering optional modules in areas such as Developmental Psychology and Education, Children's Literature, and Special Educational Needs and Disability. The final year centres on independent research alongside compulsory study in New Directions in Educational Research and the Empirical Education Dissertation. Optional modules in the final year allow students to explore diverse topics such as Education and Global Development, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Race, Difference, Equity and Equality and other issues in Education.
