About this course

BA (Hons) English Language and Literature is an undergraduate English Language and Literature degree focusing on the combined study of texts, literary history, and linguistic systems. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can also add a placement year or a year abroad to their studies. The first year covers core foundations through Writing Modernity, Other Worlds, Reading Now, and English Past and Present. The second year branches into period studies, global texts, creative writing, and linguistic analysis. The final year centres on an independent project through modules such as English and Related Literature Dissertation and English and Linguistics Bridge Dissertation.
