A level: AAB including an A in English Literature (English Language and Literature is also acceptable) IB: 35 points including 6 in English Literature at Higher Level (Higher Level English Language and Literature is also acceptable) BTEC: DDD with an additional A Level or equivalent qualification in English Literature at grade A
About this course
BA (Hons) English Literature and History of Art is an undergraduate joint honours degree spanning the disciplines of English Literature and History of Art. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can add an optional placement year or a year abroad to extend the programme duration. The first year introduces foundational concepts through modules such as Writing Modernity, Other Worlds, Reading Now, The Materials of Art and Architecture, Art History Now, and Objects in Focus. The second year allows students to select from a broad variety of literature and art history modules, ranging from The Renaissance and Surrealism: Art and Liberty to African Imaginations and Afrophone Literatures and Post-War Italian Cinema. The final year involves compulsory independent research culminating in a Bridge Dissertation with English Supervisor and a Bridge Dissertation with History of Art Supervisor, alongside further specialized optional modules.
