About this course
BA (Hons) Liberal Arts is a liberal arts degree centred on interdisciplinary study across the arts and humanities. Core topics include Data Analysis. The course is structured around dedicated core modules in each of the first two years, complemented by wide-ranging optional modules spanning archaeology, literature, history, art history, linguistics, music, philosophy, and theatre. The first year introduces the academic discipline through compulsory modules such as Discovering the Humanities and Bridging the Humanities, alongside optional choices like Prehistory to the Present and Phonetics & Phonology. The second year continues with the compulsory module 'Real World' Humanities, while offering optional subjects such as Victorians: British Literature 1832-1901 and Linguistics as Data Science. The final year comprises entirely optional modules covering diverse areas like Literature & Ecology, Neurolinguistics: Language and the Brain, and Buddhist as Philosophy, allowing students to shape their pathway across various specialized topics.
