About this course

BA (Hons) Liberal Arts with French (with a year abroad), a liberal arts degree centred on interdisciplinary study across the arts and humanities combined with French language acquisition. Core topics include Data Analysis. The course includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying at a partner institution or completing a work placement or internship, and concludes with an independent study project. The first year introduces foundational concepts through Discovering the Humanities, Bridging the Humanities, and specific French language modules suited to beginner or advanced entry levels. Optional choices in the first year range from Prehistory to the Present to Introduction to Media Technologies. The second year progresses with Real World Humanities and advanced French language study, alongside optional topics such as Victorians: British Literature 1832-1901 and Linguistics as Data Science. The final year incorporates advanced language proficiency through French Language and Cultures: Proficient, alongside compulsory modules such as Translation: Methodology and Practice and an Independent Study in Languages and Cultures.
