About this course

BA (Hons) Linguistics with Spanish, an undergraduate degree in English Language and Linguistics and Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies. The course includes a four-year variant incorporating a year abroad. The first year covers core modules such as Spanish Language and Cultures: Upper Intermediate, Language and the Mind, Understanding Language in the Real World, and Understanding Spanish-speaking Cultures and Societies, with optional choices including English Past and Present, Phonetics and Phonology, and Syntactic Structures. The second year introduces Spanish Language and Cultures: Advanced and Foundations of Meaning alongside optional modules like Multiple identities in 21st Century Spain and Sociolinguistics. In the final year, students can select from optional modules such as Translation: Methodology and Practice, Forensic Phonetics, Bilingualism, and Independent Study in Languages and Cultures.
