A level: AAB/A*BB/A*AC IB: 35 points BTEC: DDD We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: Distinction, Distinction in BTEC Level 3 National Diploma plus A at A Level Distinction in BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate plus AA at A level Distinction, Distinction in 2 BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificates plus A at A level
About this course
BA (Hons) Philosophy and Linguistics, an undergraduate English Language and Linguistics and Philosophy degree focusing on structural analysis, language properties, and philosophical inquiry. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete independent research projects and dissertations in both disciplines during the final year. The first year covers foundations through Philosophical Analysis, Logic, Syntactic Structures, and Phonetics and Phonology. The second year progresses with advanced study in modules such as Aspects of a Theory of Syntax, Acoustic Phonetics and Phonological Analysis, Sociolinguistics, and Foundations of Meaning, alongside various optional choices. The third year centres on advanced topics and independent work, including the Philosophy Short Dissertation, Linguistics Independent Study, and Linguistics Research Extension.
