A level: ABB IB: 34 points overall BTEC: DDM We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. About this course
BA (Hons) Sociology with Education, a sociology and education degree exploring societal structures and educational frameworks. Core topics include Research Methods. Students complete an undergraduate dissertation in the final year and can optionally add a placement year or a year abroad. The first year introduces foundational concepts through Cultivating a Sociological Imagination, Living in Digital Cultures, Investigating Social Problems, Theorising the Social World, Meanings and Contexts of Education, and Social Perspectives on Education. The second year examines advanced themes via Inequality, Intersectionality and Resistance, Doing Research, Societies and the Climate Crisis, and Education, Power and Society, alongside optional modules covering topics such as Body and Society, Health and Illness, Special Educational Needs and Disability, and Education Policy and its Impacts. The third year centres on the Undergraduate Dissertation alongside various optional studies including Crime, Gender and Sexuality, Education and Global Development, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Placement Study.
