BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering
Entry requirements
A level: ABB including Maths. IB: 34 points overall with grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics - Applications and Interpretation or 5 in Higher Level or Standard Level Mathematics - Analysis and Approaches. BTEC: We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: DDM in the BTEC National Extended Diploma plus A level Maths grade B DD in the BTEC National Diploma in any subject plus A level Maths grade B D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AB at A level including Mathematics We consider BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/ Extended Diploma with Unit 7- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems and Unit 8- Further Engineering Mathematics in place of A Level Mathematics.
About this course
BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on power generation, circuits and technical systems. Core topics include Programming, Circuit Design, and Signal Processing. Students complete individual and group projects at each stage of study, and the curriculum is fully accredited by the IET to count toward Chartered Engineer status. An optional industry placement year is available prior to the final year of study. The first year establishes fundamental theory through modules such as Introduction to Engineering, Programming and Digital Interfacing, Mathematics, and Electronic Engineering Project. The second year advances core knowledge with Mathematics, Signals and Systems, Electronic Engineering Project 2, Circuit Design, and Control, Sensors and Instrumentation. The final year centres on Renewable Power Generation and the Individual Final Project. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as Communications Systems and Digital Communications, Robotics Design and Construction, Electric Powertrain Design, and Photovoltaics and Solar Thermal Energy.
