BEng Engineering with Audio Technology
Entry requirements
A level: ABB including Maths. IB: 34 points overall with grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics - Applications and Interpretation or 5 in Higher Level or Standard Level Mathematics - Analysis and Approaches. BTEC: We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: DDM in the BTEC National Extended Diploma plus A level Maths grade B DD in the BTEC National Diploma in any subject plus A level Maths grade B D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AB at A level including Mathematics We consider BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/ Extended Diploma with Unit 7- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems and Unit 8- Further Engineering Mathematics in place of A Level Mathematics.
About this course
BEng (Hons) Engineering with Audio Technology, an engineering degree centred on the technical principles and creative possibilities of sound. Core topics include Programming and Signal Processing. The course includes a third-year Individual Final Project, and offers an optional placement year in industry. The first year establishes fundamental engineering and technical principles through modules such as Introduction to Engineering, Programming and Digital Interfacing, Mathematics, and Analogue Electronics. The second year expands into specialist areas with Mathematics, Signals and Systems, Acoustics and Studio Recording, Control, Sensors and Instrumentation, and Audio Technology & Psychoacoustics. The final year involves advanced study and application, featuring compulsory components like Digital Signal Processing alongside optional modules spanning areas such as Audio App Development and Marketing, Multimedia Sound Design, Robotics Design and Construction, and Biomedical Engineering.
