About this course

BEng (Hons) in Music Technology Systems (with a foundation year), an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on audio systems and engineering principles. Core topics include Programming and Signal Processing. The course includes a foundation year covering mathematics and physics to prepare students for degree-level study, and is fully accredited by the IET. The initial year covers foundational content through Mathematics 1, Physics 1, and Skills for Engineering and the Physical Sciences 1. Subsequent stages introduce compulsory subjects such as Introduction to Engineering, Programming and Digital Interfacing, Mathematics, Analogue Electronics, Digital Electronics, and Music Technology Project 1. Later compulsory study incorporates Mathematics, Signals and Systems, Acoustics and Studio Recording, Music Technology Project 2, Control, Sensors and Instrumentation, Software Design, Audio Technology and Psychoacoustics, Communications Systems and Digital Communications, Audio App Development and Marketing, and the Individual Final Project. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as Product Design, Development and Commercialization, Robotics Design and Construction, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, and Multimedia Sound Design.
