About this course
BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance (with a year in industry), an accounting and finance degree centred on the principles of financial and management practices. Core topics include Control Systems, Data Analysis, Financial Analysis, and Accounting. The course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Introduction to Accounting, Finance Fundamentals, Business Economics, and Quantitative Analysis in Business Studies. The second year progresses to build technical competence via Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting, Intermediate Management Accounting, and Sustainable Investing and Green Finance, with optional modules available in areas like Audit and Assurance and Company Law. The final year involves advanced compulsory study including Advanced Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Control Systems, and Financial Markets and Investments, alongside optional choices such as Business Consultancy Project and Taxation Systems.
