About this course
BSc (Hons) Chemistry, a chemistry degree providing a comprehensive education in molecular analysis, structures, and chemical reactions. Core topics include Programming, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the course partially fulfils the academic requirements for Chartered Chemist status. The first year establishes core knowledge through compulsory modules such as Foundations of Chemistry 1, Foundations of Chemistry 2, Introductory Skills and Practical 1, and Foundations of Chemistry 3. The second year builds on this with modules including Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 1, Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 2, Advanced Skills and Practical 1, and Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 3, alongside optional choices like Green and Sustainable Chemistry or Programming and Machine Learning for Chemistry. The final year focuses on advanced study and independent research through compulsory modules such as BSc Research Project, Frontiers of Chemistry 1, Frontiers of Chemistry 2, and Frontiers of Chemistry 3, with further optional topics covering areas like Chemistry and Disease.
