About this course

BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence (with a year in industry), a computer science and computer science (artificial intelligence) degree centred on computational systems and artificial intelligence. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Data Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This four-year degree includes a year in industry for paid professional experience and a final-year project focused on an artificial intelligence topic. The first year covers the foundations through Software 1: Foundations of Programming for Computer Science, Theory 1: Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, and Systems and Devices 1: Introduction to Computer Architectures. The second year focuses on systems, software, and intelligence via modules such as Engineering 1: Software and Systems Engineering, Systems and Devices 2: Operating Systems, Security, and Networking, and Intelligent Systems: Machine Learning and Optimisation. The final year involves compulsory advanced study including Autonomous Robots, Deep Learning, and Large Language Models. Optional modules allow students to explore subjects such as Cryptography Theory and Practice, Embedded Systems Design and Implementation, and Network Security.
