About this course

BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Cyber Security, an undergraduate computer science and software engineering degree focused on secure digital systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students can optionally add a placement year to gain workplace experience before graduation. The first year covers core principles through modules such as Software 1: Foundations of Programming for Computer Science, Theory 1: Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and Software 2: Object Oriented Data Structures and Algorithms. The second year progresses into engineering and systems via Engineering 1: Software and Systems Engineering, Systems and Devices 2: Operating Systems, Security, and Networking, Theory 3: Computability, Complexity and Logic, and Intelligent Systems 1: Machine Learning and Optimisation. The final year centres on specialised security topics including Computer Science Project (Cyber Security topic), Cryptography Theory and Practice, Ethical Hacking, Analysis and Investigation, and Network Security. Optional modules allow students to further explore areas such as Autonomous Robots, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing.
