About this course
BSc (Hons) Ecology and Conservation Biology, a marine biology degree focused on ecological systems and environmental protection. Core topics include Fieldwork. The course includes laboratory and practical training through bespoke bioscience modules, leading to a final-year independent research project. The first year introduces foundational biological principles through compulsory modules such as Ecological principles, Genetics, Life on Earth, and Dynamic Earth. The second year continues skill development with experimental design and research methods, while offering optional modules in areas like Practical Ecology, Ecosystem Management and Conservation, and Geographical Information Systems. The third year centres on the Bioscience Capstone Project alongside optional modules covering topics such as Conserving Biodiversity in the Anthropocene, Genomics, and current ecological research.
