A level: AAB including Mathematics IB: 35 points with a minimum grade of 5 points in Higher level or 7 in Standard Level Mathematics (either Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretations). BTEC: DDD including Mathematics or in conjunction with an acceptable alternative Level 3 Mathematics qualification
About this course
BSc (Hons) Economics and Econometrics, an economics degree focused on quantitative analytical methods and applied data analysis within economic theory. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, and Financial Analysis. The curriculum integrates rigorous mathematical techniques with practical economic policy evaluation. The first year establishes core foundational knowledge through modules such as Principles of Economics, Mathematics for Economists, Foundations of Economic History, Data, Evidence and Policy, Probability and Statistics, and Introduction to Finance. The second year advances into deeper theoretical frameworks and analytical techniques, featuring compulsory study in Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy, Econometric Analysis, and Econometric Theory, alongside optional modules covering corporate finance, economic history, and development economics. The final year concentrates on advanced quantitative study with compulsory modules in Econometric Methods for Research, Contemporary Economic Issues and Analysis, and Applied Econometrics.
