Entry requirements
A level: AAB including Mathematics IB: 35 points with a minimum grade of 5 points in Higher level or 7 in Standard Level Mathematics (either Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretations). BTEC: DDD including Mathematics or in conjunction with an acceptable alternative Level 3 Mathematics qualification
About this course
BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance, an economics and accounting and finance degree centred on the principles of macro- and microeconomics and econometrics. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, and Financial Analysis. The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. The first year covers foundational concepts through Principles of Economics, Mathematics for Economists, Foundations of Economic History, and Probability and Statistics. The second year progresses to Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy, Corporate Finance, and Econometric Analysis. The final year includes compulsory study in Commodity Markets and Derivative Securities, Contemporary Economic Issues and Analysis, and Structure and Regulation of Financial Markets. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as Game Theory, Health Economics, and Monetary Economics, with the option to complete an Economics Dissertation.
