About this course

BSc (Hons) Physics, a physics degree exploring the fundamental forces and structure of matter. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course is accredited by the Institute of Physics. The first year covers core foundations through modules such as Classical Mechanics and Laboratories, Classical and Quantum Waves, and Electromagnetism and Relativity. The second year progresses to advanced theory and methods, featuring Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism, Statistical and Solid State Physics, and Mathematical Techniques and Machine Learning. The final year centres on an independent BSc Research Project and Skills. Students can also tailor their degree by choosing from a broad range of optional modules spanning subjects such as Plasma Physics and Fusion, Quantum Mechanics, and Relativity and Cosmology.
