About this course
BSc (Hons) Physics with Astrophysics, a physics and physics with astrophysics degree focused on astronomical phenomena, space science, and fundamental physical laws. Core topics include Statistics and Research Methods. The course is accredited by the Institute of Physics. The first year covers the foundations through Classical Mechanics and Laboratories, Classical and Quantum Waves, Mathematical, Computational and Professional Skills 1, and Mapping the Universe and Laboratories. The second year progresses with Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism, Astrophysical Technologies and Space Science, Statistical and Solid State Physics, and Quantum, Atomic, Nuclear and Particle Physics. The final year involves the BSc Research Project and Skills alongside Stars and Galaxies. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as Plasma Physics and Fusion, Relativity and Cosmology, Astrobiology, and Scientific Supercomputing.
