A level: ABB IB: 34 points BTEC: DDM We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. About this course
BA (Hons) in Childhood Studies, a childhood studies degree focused on the social, psychological, and cultural dimensions of growing up. Core topics include Research Methods. The course includes opportunities to gain practical experience through community initiatives and school placements. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through modules such as Researching Education, Psychological Perspectives on Education, Social Perspectives on Education, and Cultural and Creative Approaches to Education. The second year expands into broader sociological and developmental themes via Sociology of Childhood and Youth, Developmental Psychology and Education, and Educational Research Methods, alongside optional modules covering children's literature, special educational needs, and teaching methods. The final year centres on independent investigation through Empirical Dissertation and New Directions in Educational Research, supported by optional studies in child and adolescent mental health, global development, and equity in education.
