About this course
LLB (Hons) International Human Rights Law, a law degree centred on legal theory, global institutions and human rights practice. Core topics include Research Methods. The course meets requirements for progression to professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales, incorporating problem-based learning within student law firms. The first year introduces the discipline through Legal Concepts, Foundations in Law 1, Foundations in Law 2, Foundations in Law 3, International Human Rights 1: Theory, movement and institutions, and Legal Skills (Human Rights). The second year continues with Foundations in Law 4, Foundations in Law 5, Foundations in Law 6, Advanced Legal Skills (Human Rights), International Human Rights 2: Law, courts and practice, and Human Rights Project. The final year allows students to pursue specialized interests through option choices such as Mental Health and Mental Capacity Law, Asylum: Theory, law and practice of the international protection of refugees, International Trade Law & Regulation, and Intellectual Property.
