About this course

MBiomedSci (Hons) Biomedical Sciences, a biological sciences degree examining human health and disease. Core topics include Research Methods. This four-year integrated master's programme is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology and provides the option to include a year in industry or study abroad. The first year covers the foundations through Becoming a Bioscientist: Core Skills, Physiology and Disease, Genetics, Becoming a Bioscientist: Grand Challenges, Molecules of Life, and Cells to Organisms. The second year introduces experimental design and disease mechanisms through Becoming a Bioscientist: Experimental Design and Communication, Becoming a Bioscientist: Research in Action, and Mechanisms of Disease, alongside optional modules in subjects such as Cell Biology, Pharmacology, and Neuroscience. The third year centres on the Group Research Project alongside specialized optional modules spanning Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology, Pathogens, and Genomics. The fourth year focuses on advanced training and independent investigation through Research Project, Research Skills, and Research Proposal.
