MChem Chemistry, the Atmosphere and the Environment (with a year in York)
About this course
MChem (Hons) Chemistry, the Atmosphere and the Environment (with a year in York), a chemistry degree focused on atmospheric and environmental processes. Core topics include Research Methods. This four-year undergraduate programme is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry and includes an integrated Master's level study period spent entirely at York. The first year covers fundamental principles through modules such as Foundations of Chemistry 1, Foundations of Chemistry 2, Introductory Skills and Practical 1, Foundations of Chemistry 3, Foundations of Chemistry 4, and Introductory Skills and Practical 2. The second year progresses to Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 1, Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 2, Advanced Skills and Practical 1, Advanced Chemistry Concepts and Applications 3, Advanced Skills and Practical 2, and Green and Sustainable Chemistry. The third year explores specialized topics through Frontiers of Chemistry 1, Atmospheric Chemistry, Climate Change and Net Zero, Advanced Topics and Practical, Miniproject with Advanced Analysis: Analytical approaches for complex mixtures in the natural world, Frontiers of Chemistry 2, and Frontiers of Chemistry 3. The final fourth year concludes with advanced training via Professional Research Development, Advanced Research Project (York), and Research Communication.
