MEng Electronic Engineering with Music Technology Systems
Entry requirements
A level: AAA including Maths. IB: 36 points overall with grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics - Applications and Interpretation or 5 in Higher Level or Standard Level Mathematics - Analysis and Approaches. BTEC: We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: DDD in the BTEC National Extended Diploma plus A level Maths grade A DD in the BTEC National Diploma in any subject plus A level Maths grade A D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AA at A level including Mathematics We consider BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/ Extended Diploma with Unit 7- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems and Unit 8- Further Engineering Mathematics in place of A Level Mathematics.
About this course
MEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering with Music Technology Systems, an electrical and electronic engineering degree combining professional electronics with audio and music technology. Core topics include Programming, Signal Processing, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course is fully accredited by the IET and includes a team software engineering multimedia project as well as an individual final project, with an optional year in industry available prior to the final year. The first year introduces foundational engineering principles through modules such as Introduction to Engineering, Programming and Digital Interfacing, Mathematics, and Digital Electronics alongside a practical music project. The second year progresses into specialized areas covering Mathematics, Signals and Systems, Acoustics and Studio Recording, Control, Sensors and Instrumentation, and Audio Technology and Psychoacoustics. The third year involves advanced study with modules including Communications, Systems and Digital Communications, Audio App Development and Marketing, and a two-part Electronics Group Project, while optional choices allow students to explore Digital Signal Processing or Photovoltaics and Solar Thermal Energy. The fourth year centers on the MEng Individual Final Project and Modelling and Analysing Sound and Music Signals, alongside diverse optional modules covering subjects such as Machine Learning, Power Electronics, Immersive and Interactive Audio, and Advanced Project Management- Agile, Scrum and Six Sigma.
