MEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering
Entry requirements
A level: AAA including Maths. IB: 36 points overall with grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics - Applications and Interpretation or 5 in Higher Level or Standard Level Mathematics - Analysis and Approaches. BTEC: We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: DDD in the BTEC National Extended Diploma plus A level Maths grade A DD in the BTEC National Diploma in any subject plus A level Maths grade A D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AA at A level including Mathematics We consider BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/ Extended Diploma with Unit 7- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems and Unit 8- Further Engineering Mathematics in place of A Level Mathematics.
About this course
MEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on power systems, hardware development, and modern technologies. Core topics include Programming, Circuit Design, Signal Processing, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The programme is fully accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and includes the option to undertake a professional industry placement year prior to the final year of study. The first year covers foundational engineering principles through modules such as Introduction to Engineering, Programming and Digital Interfacing, Mathematics, and Electronic Engineering Project. The second year progresses to advanced topics with Mathematics, Signals and Systems, Circuit Design, and Control, Sensors and Instrumentation. Year 3 involves group project work alongside compulsory study in Renewable Power Generation, Electric Powertrain Design, and Digital Signal Processing. The final year centres on the Individual Final Project alongside compulsory core subjects like Power Electronics and Electric Vehicle Technologies. Students can tailor their studies with optional modules including Immersive and Interactive Audio, Machine Learning, and Advanced Project Management- Agile, Scrum and Lean Six Sigma.
