MEng Music Technology Systems
Entry requirements
A level: AAA including Maths. IB: 36 points overall with grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics - Applications and Interpretation or 5 in Higher Level or Standard Level Mathematics - Analysis and Approaches. BTEC: We consider a range of BTEC qualifications equivalent to 3 A Levels, or in combination with A Levels or other qualifications. For example: DDD in the BTEC National Extended Diploma plus A level Maths grade A DD in the BTEC National Diploma in any subject plus A level Maths grade A D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AA at A level including Mathematics We consider BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/ Extended Diploma with Unit 7- Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems and Unit 8- Further Engineering Mathematics in place of A Level Mathematics.
About this course
MEng (Hons) in Music Technology Systems, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on audio engineering and technology systems. Core topics include Programming, Signal Processing, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This four-year degree is fully accredited by the IET to fulfill Chartered Engineer status and features an optional industrial placement year. The first year covers foundational principles through compulsory modules such as Mathematics, Analogue Electronics, and Programming and Digital Interfacing. The second year introduces Acoustics and Studio Recording, Control, Sensors and Instrumentation, and Software Design. The third year involves an Electronics Group Project alongside compulsory study in Audio App Development and Marketing, while offering optional modules such as Digital Signal Processing and Electric Powertrain Design. The fourth year concludes with an MEng Individual Final Project and Modelling and Analysing Sound and Music Signals, alongside advanced options covering topics like Machine Learning, Immersive and Interactive Audio, and Advanced Project Management- Agile, Scrum and Six Sigma.
