Entry requirements
A level: AAA including Physics and Mathematics. IB: 36 points overall, including 5 in Higher Level Mathematics (either Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretations) or 6 in Standard Level Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches), plus 5 in Higher Level Physics.
About this course
MPhys (Hons) Physics, a physics degree situated within the discipline of Physics. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course is accredited by the Institute of Physics. The first year introduces fundamental principles through modules such as Classical Mechanics and Laboratories, Classical and Quantum Waves, and Mathematical, Computational and Professional Skills 1. The second year builds upon this foundation with Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism, Quantum, Atomic, Nuclear and Particle Physics, and Mathematical Techniques and Machine Learning. The third year offers optional study in areas including Quantum Mechanics, Medical Physics, and Relativity and Cosmology. The final year centres on the compulsory MPhys Research Project and Skills, alongside optional modules such as Advanced Quantum Mechanics and Scientific Supercomputing.
