About this course

MSci (Hons) in Immunology and Infectious Disease, an immunology and infectious disease degree centred on biomedical science and clinical medicine. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can add a year in industry or study abroad to the four-year duration, and the course includes multiple research projects. The first year covers the foundations through Becoming a Bioscientist: Grand Challenge, Molecules of Life, Physiology and Disease, and Cells to Organism. The second year focuses on laboratory principles and host responses via Molecular Microbiology, The Immune System, Becoming a Bioscientist: Experimental Design & Communication, and Becoming a Bioscientist: Research in Action, with options such as Mechanisms of Disease and Pharmacology. Year three advances into specialized investigations through Pathogens, Haematology and Immunology in Health and Disease, Mechanisms to Therapies, and BSc Research Project, alongside optional choices like Genomics. The final fourth year centers on advanced master's-level study through Research Skills, Research Proposal, and Research Project.
